Introducing Undergraduate Study Program, FPH UI Receives Visit from Students of SMA IT Unggulan Metropolitan EMIISc Jakarta

The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from students of SMA IT Unggulan Metropolitan EMIISc Jakarta on Thursday, November 7, 2024. The event, which took place at the Doctoral Promotion Room of FPH UI, aimed to introduce the undergraduate programs and the profile of FPH UI to students interested in pursuing studies in public health.

The Education Manager of FPH UI, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., presented an overview of the faculty. Dr. Laila explained that FPH UI is one of Indonesia’s leading public health faculties, focusing on education and research in public health. With the vision of producing qualified public health professionals who are committed to community empowerment, FPH UI has actively contributed to various health programs both nationally and internationally.

“FPH UI not only prioritizes academic quality but also has a strong commitment to producing graduates who are ready to face global challenges in the field of health. The faculty also provides various facilities and laboratories to delve into health topics relevant to current issues,” Dr. Laila shared during her presentation.

Next, the Head of the Nutrition Undergraduate Program at FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Diah Mulyawati Utari, M.Kes., presented the profile of the Nutrition Undergraduate Program. Dr. Diah explained that the program aims to produce nutrition experts who can contribute to the prevention and management of nutrition-related issues in society. Through various areas of expertise, including clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service, students in this program will be trained to become professionals capable of addressing nutrition-related issues in the community.

Meanwhile, the discussion on the Environmental Health Undergraduate Program was presented by the Head of the Environmental Health Undergraduate Program at FPH UI, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.K.M., M.Si. According to Dr. Ema, the Environmental Health Undergraduate Program focuses on aspects of health related to the environment. “Students in this program will study various issues related to sanitation, water quality, air pollution, and healthy environmental management. Graduates of this program have a broad range of career opportunities, including working in government agencies, international organizations, and private sector companies in the environmental field,” said Dr. Ema. “Students in the Environmental Health program are trained to analyze the impact of the environment on public health and design solutions to create healthier environments. This is a field that is highly relevant to the public health challenges of the modern era,” she added.

In addition to the Nutrition and Environmental Health programs, FPH UI also offers two other undergraduate programs: the Public Health Undergraduate Program and the Occupational Health and Safety Undergraduate Program. All four undergraduate programs at FPH UI are accredited with excellence by the national accreditation body, and both the Public Health and Nutrition undergraduate programs have received international accreditation.

During the Q&A session, students from SMA IT Unggulan Metropolitan EMIISc Jakarta were given the opportunity to ask more questions about campus life, the admission process, and career opportunities available after graduation from FPH UI. The students were enthusiastic and actively engaged, showing a strong interest in the programs offered by FPH UI.

Through this visit, it is hoped that the students from SMA IT Unggulan Metropolitan EMIISc Jakarta will gain broader insights into higher education, particularly in the field of public health, and be able to make more informed decisions when choosing a program that aligns with their interests and talents for the future.
