Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) officially inaugurated MPM IM and 16 Student Organizations (LK) of FPH UI for the 2025 administration period as part of the faculty’s commitment to supporting the dynamics of student organizations. LK serves as a platform for students’ aspirations, talent development, and both academic and non-academic activities within FPH UI. The selection of LK administrators was carried out through the General Election (Pemira) mechanism and Ex-Officio appointments in accordance with the applicable regulations within FPH UI to ensure credible representation and adherence to organizational guidelines.
One of those inaugurated was Farid Akbar, a 2022 undergraduate student in Public Health, who was appointed as the Chairman of the Student Representative Council of the Student Association (MPM IM) FPH UI, the highest legislative and judicial body within IM FPH UI. Additionally, 11 Independent Members (AI) were appointed to carry out responsibilities within the MPM IM FPH UI structure. This inauguration was based on MPM IM FPH UI Regulation Number 03 of 2025 concerning the Structure of Independent Members for the 2025 Administration Period.
Farid was unanimously elected by the Independent Members of MPM IM FPH UI. His two years of experience in the organization made him a trusted figure with a deep understanding of its dynamics and challenges. “I have learned a lot from the previous administration and want to improve on the existing shortcomings within MPM,” said Farid. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that every decision made is fair to all Student Organizations (LK) under MPM’s jurisdiction.
MPM IM FPH UI 2025 envisions itself as an independent and responsive student aspiration institution that effectively fulfills its six main functions. To achieve this vision, MPM is committed to fostering synergy among stakeholders, student organizations, and IM FPH UI, developing work programs based on student aspirations, and establishing a productive, responsive, and credible internal structure.
As an institution overseeing 16 student organizations with diverse interests, MPM must be able to make well-balanced and effective decisions. Through his role as Chairman, Farid hopes to grow personally and develop better social skills. He emphasized the importance of innovation within MPM by strengthening internal organization and providing greater recognition to the administration, motivating them to carry out their duties more effectively. According to him, student organizations play a crucial role in university life, but students must carefully consider their commitments before joining. “Look at the background, work system, and workload of an organization to ensure it does not interfere with academics, which should remain the top priority,” he advised.
Farid also noted that many students remain passive in providing feedback to Student Organizations (LK), making it difficult to evaluate work programs and meet student needs. “Students should be more vocal in expressing their opinions and concerns. MPM IM FPH UI has aspiration channels such as the Pocket of Aspiration, which can be used to provide feedback on MPM’s performance or events like the Campus Life Orientation (OKK) and General Elections (Pemira),” he said.
Farid hopes that strong and innovative leadership in MPM IM FPH UI 2025 will make it a better platform for accommodating student aspirations and fostering closer synergy within the FPH UI student environment. He emphasized that MPM plays a crucial role as an effective communication bridge between students, student organizations, and FPH UI, aiming to create a more inclusive, productive, and quality-driven academic environment in public health.
The newly inaugurated administration is expected to enhance synergy among MPM IM FPH UI 2025 and the 16 Student Organizations (LK), creating a dynamic, inclusive, and student development-oriented environment at FPH UI. (DFD)
