On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) welcomed a visit from the students of SMA Negeri 1 Cikarang Utara. The purpose of this visit was to provide useful information to prospective students regarding the various academic programs offered at FPH UI and to give them a deeper understanding of higher education in the field of public health. Over 100 students participated in the visit, which was hosted in the Doctoral Promotion Room at FPH UI.
In her welcoming speech, the Academic Manager of FPH UI, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M., provided an overview of FPH UI, its academic programs, admissions process, curriculum, and the facilities that support education at FPH UI. Dr. Laila also emphasized the growing importance of public health education in Indonesia and how FPH UI plays a key role in producing professionals who contribute to improving the nation’s health standards.
“Public health education has become increasingly crucial in Indonesia, given the complex health challenges such as infectious diseases, unhealthy lifestyles, and limited access to healthcare in certain regions. FPH UI, as one of the leading educational institutions, plays an important role in training healthcare professionals who are ready to make a real contribution to improving public health. FPH UI not only produces graduates who excel nationally but are also competitive internationally,” Dr. Laila stated.
The Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Nutrition, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M.Kes., explained the Bachelor’s Program in Nutrition at FPH UI. Dr. Diah highlighted that graduates of this program are expected to become nutrition experts who can contribute to improving the quality of life through healthy eating patterns and evidence-based nutrition counseling.
Equally engaging, the Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Environmental Health, Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M., also gave a presentation on the Bachelor’s Program in Environmental Health at FPH UI. This program focuses on environmental aspects related to health, including sanitation, pollution, and the management of health-friendly environments. Dr. Ema emphasized that graduates of this program will be capable of identifying health issues related to the environment and designing solutions to prevent diseases caused by environmental factors.
During the Q&A session, the students of SMA Negeri 1 Cikarang Utara were eager to gather more information about the programs they were interested in. They asked about job prospects, curriculum details, tips for the admissions process, and opportunities to develop soft skills while studying at FPH UI.
This visit is expected to provide new insights for the students in selecting an academic program that aligns with their interests and talents. FPH UI hopes that through this activity, prospective students will better understand the opportunities available in the field of public health education and use this knowledge as a guide to achieving a bright future.
