As part of its efforts to strengthen synergy and improve the quality of academic information services, the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Library held a Library Roadshow at the Faculty of Public Health (FPH UI) on Tuesday, 8 July 2025. Taking place in the Professor’s Room at FPH UI, the event served to socialize the library’s services while gathering input from faculty leaders and service users within the faculty.
The roadshow was attended by the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FPH UI, Dr. Ir. Asih Setiarni, M.Sc., along with department heads and secretaries, lecturers, managers and coordinators of academic, student, public relations, and IT units. Their presence underscored a shared commitment to position the library as a strategic partner in advancing education and research.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Asih Setiarni emphasized the critical role of the library in the digital age. “The library is the heart of the university, as it serves as a hub of knowledge and arts. In today’s era of digitalization, information is easily accessible, but students must still be discerning in choosing credible sources. We truly appreciate the presence of the UI Library team and hope that today’s discussion brings significant value not only for FPH UI but also for the development of UI Library services as a whole,” said Dr. Asih.
Meanwhile, Head of UI Library, Luluk Tri Wulandari, M.Hum., explained that the visit to FPH UI was part of the seventh round of library roadshows conducted across various faculties at UI. “As the central library, we aim to be more grounded in the faculties. These discussions are essential for us to understand the unique needs of each faculty. We also want to introduce our flagship services such as e-resources and e-literacy to the academic community. For this, mutual support and synergy between the library and the faculties are essential,” she explained.
During the presentation session, Coordinator of the Institutional Repository and Library Automation, Sony Pawoko, M.TI., elaborated on various key services currently offered. “UI Library continues to strengthen its role as an academic information center by offering top-tier services such as information literacy training, document similarity checks (PERKAMEN), literature search assistance, reference services, and access to e-resources and research tools,” said Sony. In 2024 alone, thousands of UI members utilized these services, including 6,212 participants in information literacy training and 14,655 requests for document similarity checks. These services are now more easily accessible through digital channels such as email, WhatsApp, and the official library portal.
Beyond routine services, the UI Library also provides facilities such as reading rooms for lecturers, discussion rooms, study cubicles, and digital systems including self-loan, smart lockers, and remote access. To enhance transparency and academic contribution, the library encourages UI academics to upload scholarly works to the Institutional Repository, in line with the Rector’s Decree. This repository aims to document and disseminate academic works for greater accessibility, increase citations, and prevent plagiarism and research duplication. Active collaboration between the library and faculties is expected to strengthen the ecosystem of information literacy and research excellence at Universitas Indonesia.
In addition to presentations, the roadshow included an interactive discussion session between FPH UI members and the UI Library team. This discussion addressed various adjustments needed to align the faculty’s needs with the services available at the UI Library.
Through this initiative, both FPH UI and UI Library hope to foster ongoing collaboration to enhance the culture of literacy, optimize the use of digital information resources, and promote excellence in education and research. (wrk)
