“The health challenges we face today are becoming increasingly complex, whether related to disease prevention, environmental health, or managing public health crises. The Public Health UI CREATES program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of public health and global health, while also offering practical insights through direct experience,” said the Manager of Cooperation, Alumni Relations, and Ventures at FPH UI, Prof. Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., in her speech during the opening ceremony of Public Health UI CREATES, held in the FPH UI Professor’s Room on Monday, August 12, 2024.
The University of Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students (UI-CREATES) is part of UI’s commitment to developing global partnerships and providing international learning experiences for students. This program is not only an academic program but also a cultural exchange, promoting mutual respect and sharing diverse perspectives that enrich understanding of various global issues.
Public Health UI CREATES is a credit-earning student mobility program where participants will study topics related to Global Health and Basic Public Health, with each topic carrying 3 credits. This year marks the second edition of Public Health UI CREATES. The program will be held for about one week, from August 12 to 19, 2024, at FPH UI, with participants from Mahidol University, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Wakayama Medical University in Japan, and Akkon University in Germany.
Furthermore, the Head of the Bachelor of Public Health Program and the Chair of the Public Health UI CREATES Committee, Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes., explained the technical aspects of the activities that participants will engage in during their one-week study at FPH UI. In addition to classroom learning, participants will also be invited to visit several places and learn about Indonesian culture.
“We hope that all participants will enjoy the lectures and various activities to get to know Indonesian culture, particularly Jakarta, through visits to Taman Mini, Bogor Botanical Garden, and Old Town. We hope that through this program, participants will not only gain broader knowledge of public health but also gain deeper experience and insights into Indonesian culture,” said Dr. Robiana Modjo, S.K.M., M.Kes.
This program is expected to open opportunities for participants to get to know each other, share knowledge, and grow together both in terms of knowledge and personality. (wrk)
