The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) of the Universitas Indonesia (UI) once again received visiting studies from high school students. On Monday, September 26, 2022, SMA Negeri 2 Kediri came to the FPH UI campus. The study visit was received at the FPH UI Doctoral Promotion Room, attended by FPH UI Academic Manager and Chairperson of Bachelor of Public Health, Dr. Laila Fitria, S.K.M., M.K.M.; Bachelor of Nutrition, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M.Kes.; Bachelor of Environmental Health , Dr. Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M.; and Lecturer in Occupational Safety and Health, Abdul Kadir, S.K.M., M.Sc. Visiting participants from SMA Negeri 2 Kediri consisted of 2 accompanying teachers and 47 students.
This study visit aims to provide students with an understanding of the science of FPH UI and study programs, especially the bachelor level. Doctor Laila Fitria, gave a presentation on general information about FPH UI, study programs and departments of public health science, learning curriculum, graduate competencies and entry points for new student admissions at UI. Doctor Laila, in particular, also explained about the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program. “The purpose of the establishment of the Bachelor of Public Health Study Program is to improve the degree of health and welfare of the community,” explained Dr. Laila. In addition, Dr. Ir. Diah M. Utari, M.Kes., delivered material about the S-1 Nutrition Study Program, including the latest issues related to nutrition. Doctor Ema Hermawati, S.Si., M.K.M., then continued the material with an explanation of the S-1 Environmental Health Study Program. Finally, Abdul Kadir, S.K.M., M.Sc., introduced the S-1 Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Study Program which is the youngest undergraduate study program at FPH UI. In addition to the material presented, the students also actively asked questions, some of which were related to the job prospects of graduates and explanations related to nutrition study programs.
FPH UI hopes that this study visit can help students and teachers understand more closely the science of public health and facilitate prospective students in determining the choice of majors in college later. (wrk)
