The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) again received a visit to explore cooperation from partner universities. On Wednesday, 8 February 2022, FPH UI received a visit from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). The visit, which was received at the FPH UI Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Building A RIK UI, was attended by the Dean of FPH UI, Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc.; Manager of Cooperation, Alumni Relations and Ventures FPH UI, Indri Hapsari Susilowati, S.K.M., M.K.K.K., Ph.D., while from SIT attended Dr. Intan Azura Mokhtar, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Community Leadership and Social Innovation Center (CLASIC) at the Singapore Institute of Technology.
At this meeting the possibility of collaboration that could be carried out between the two parties was discussed. SIT said that in this program the institution wishes to start collaborating with the 4 (four) best universities in Indonesia, namely UI, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Gajah Mada University (UGM), and Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). “Singapore Institute of Technology wants to collaborate in the field of public health, such as in terms of society development and community health,” added Dr. Diamond Azura Mokhtar. In addition, collaboration in terms of higher education tri dharma such as summer school or student exchanges and lecturer exchanges is also wanted to be carried out.
Responding to the possibility of this collaboration, the Dean of FPH UI, conveyed several advantages of FPH that have the potential to support programs delivered by Dr. Diamond from SIT. “FPH UI apart from having a history of collaboration with various partners in community service, we also have a Department of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) which has a center of excellence in it. In addition, our Nutrition, Epidemiology and Hospital Administration Study Programs are also excellent, this will allow for the exchange of experts from us with SIT later,” said Prof. Mondastry.
In addition to the things above, the possibility of developing departments that combine the expertise of FPH UI and SIT is also an important discussion, especially on subjects with a focus on SDGs because UI is ranked 18th worldwide for SDGs subjects based on the QS World University Rankings. With the discussion of collaboration between FPH UI and SIT and 3 other universities in Indonesia, SIT also wishes to form a university alliance from various universities in Southeast Asia in the future.
