FPH UI Took Part in the 6th ANOH Conference in Manila

In realizing its dream of becoming the best public health education institution in Indonesia and the world, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) continues to actively participate in national and international conferences. One of them is the 6th Asian Network of Occupational Hygiene (ANOH) Conference which was held in Manila, Philippines. At this event, one of the FPH UI lecturers, who is also the Chair of the FPH UI Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department, Mila Tejamaya, S.Si., M.O.H.S., Ph.D., had the opportunity to be on the Scientific Committee together with other public health practitioners from Korea, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.

With the theme, “Exploring the Asian Way: Collaboration, Innovation & Adaptation for the Future of Industrial Hygiene in Asia,” this event was successfully held on 25 – 30 August 2023. There were 2 (two) series held, namely Professional Development Courses (PDC) and conferences. PDC is held in 5 (five) classes, namely Measurement of Hazardous Substances, Industrial Noise, Industrial Ventilation, Heat Stress, and Big Picture. The conference was held in collaboration with the Industrial Hygienist Association of the Philippines Inc. (IHAP).

This conference invites researchers, practitioners, and academics to discuss and address labor protection issues in Asia. There were more than 30 participants from local, regional, and international scales who attended to present various topics related to Industrial Hygiene. “In an event that is expected to increase the capabilities of Industrial Hygiene activists in Asia by building networks, collaboration, and exploring the characteristics of Asian culture itself, I am very proud to represent FPH UI to be able to join the Scientific Committee at this international conference,” said Mila Tejamaya.

Apart from being on the scientific committee, Dr. Mila also had the opportunity to present her scientific work entitled, “Perceived Noise as a Predictor of Noise Exposure in Pulp Industry Workers in South Sumatra Province, Indonesia”. Apart from Dr. Mila, there are also other presenters from Thailand, the Philippines, Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, and various other countries.

It doesn’t stop here, the next ANOH Conference has been planned to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2024 in collaboration with the Malaysian Industrial Hygiene Association (MIHA). (BK)
