Monday, 13 February 2023, the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) together with the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) and The University of Tokyo held the 2023 AUA Academic Conference which joined the 3rd International Conference of Occupational Health and Safety (ICOHS). This ICOHS activity was held in parallel with the AUA Academic Conference 2023 in a hybrid manner at FPH UI.
The first symposium themed “Implementation of Health Protocols During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Construction Sites” moderated by drg. Baiduri Widanarko, M.K.K.K., Ph.D. The first speaker, Akhmadi Tri Cahyono from PT. Wijaya Karya Gedung, spoke about the efforts made by the company to maintain the health of workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We implement the COVID-19 health protocol policy and carry out standardization for controlling COVID-19. We also have guidelines for maintaining health before work, while at work, and while at the factory,” said Akhmadi.
“The use of technology during the COVID-19 pandemic is also very important to maintain the health of workers,” said the Head of Quality Health, Safety and Environment (FQHSE) Forum BUMN, Ir. Subkhan, S.T., M.PSDA., IPM. One of the uses of technology that is being carried out is using the Cosmic application to monitor the health of workers. Furthermore, Prof. Meily L. Kurniawidjaja, Professor of the K3 Department of FPH UI, also explained the importance of health protocols in the workplace. “Real action is needed to be able to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, one of which is by implementing health protocols in a disciplined manner.”
The second symposium with the theme “Safety Implementation in Digital Era and Post Pandemic” presented Nugroho Agung from PT. Housing Development as one of the speakers. According to him, the existence of technology is very helpful in the field of housing construction. An example of using technology is using drones to monitor construction progress and using an integrated attendance application for monitoring workers. “The use of technology in construction makes work faster, safer and more efficient,” said Nugroho. Apart from Nugroho Agung, there were also two other speakers, namely Dr. Dzulkifli Djunaidi from the OSH Department of FPH UI and Capt. Muhammad Irwansyah, SST., M.Mar., M.K.K.K., as a representative from SKK Migas.
The ICOHS conference also discussed Green Construction by presenting three speakers, namely Firansyah from PT. Nindya Karya, Agni Satya Aji as Operational Manager of the IKN Secretariat Office PT. Waskita Karya, as well as Cecil from PT. Waskita Karya.
The event was closed with a declaration of Occupational Safety and Health month and appreciation for the members of the Indonesian Construction BUMN QHSE forum. The closing ceremony was attended by Prof. dr. Mondastri Korib Sudaryo, M.S., D.Sc., Dean of FKM UI; Ir. Subkhan, S.T., M.PSDA., IPM., Head of FQHSE BUMN Construction; Mila Tejamaya, S.Sc., MOHS., Ph.D., Head of the Occupational Safety and Health Department of FPH UI, and Ir. Bimo Prasetyo, M.M., Director of Legal HR at PT Batam International Airport. (WR)
