FPH UI Online Seminar Series 18 Discusses Synergy of National Health Programs as the Key to Indonesia Emas

Depok, December 6, 2025 — The Faculty of Public Health (FPH), Universitas Indonesia (UI), once again held the Online Seminar (SEMOL) Series 18 under the theme “Synergy of National Health Priority Programs: Ensuring Nutrition, Early Detection, and Completing TB Elimination for Indonesia Emas.” The event was organized by the Master’s Program in Public Health at FPH UI on Saturday, December 6, 2025, and conducted online via Zoom Workplace. It featured speakers from various fields and was attended by participants from across Indonesia.

The seminar was opened by Dr. Milla Herdayati, S.K.M., M.Si., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration of FPH UI. In her opening remarks, she emphasized that the government’s three priority programs—Free Health Screening (Cek Kesehatan Gratis/CKG), Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG), and Tuberculosis (TB) Elimination—continue to face various challenges in the field. Yet, these programs represent concrete efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and therefore require stronger synergy and collaboration. “This synergy must also be optimized through pentahelix collaboration among government, academia, industry, communities, and the media. These challenges are a shared responsibility, and through pentahelix collaboration we can leverage existing resources to enhance program effectiveness,” said Dr. Milla.

The event continued with audience presentations by student representatives, highlighting several strategic health issues, including the CKG and MBG programs, as well as TB elimination efforts. These presentations were accompanied by policy recommendations addressed to stakeholders as an academic contribution to support the implementation of national priority programs. The session was followed by an interactive discussion featuring two speakers—Yunita Dyah Suminar, S.K.M., M.Sc., M.Si., Head of the Central Java Provincial Health Office, and Prof. Dr. Ede Surya Darmawan, S.K.M., M.D.M., Head of the Department of Health Administration and Policy, FPH UI—and moderated by Nungky Permina Sari.

In her presentation, Yunita emphasized that national health policy directions are aligned with the development vision toward Indonesia Emas 2045. “The government is committed to addressing nutrition issues, particularly accelerating the reduction of stunting rates, as a fundamental step in creating a strong future generation,” said Yunita. She further stressed that effective program implementation requires a strategic planning approach. “Strategic thinking is a critical and long-term thinking process to analyze various factors, set clear objectives, and develop detailed action plans to achieve them,” she added.

Meanwhile, Prof. Ede emphasized that every system has its own rules and characteristics that must be understood before interventions are implemented. “First, this is a system. A system consists of various components that maintain balance. When a disruption occurs that disturbs this balance, the system will respond,” said Prof. Ede. Regarding the MBG and CKG programs, he illustrated that rapid solutions without adequate system readiness can generate secondary problems. “At first glance, the Free Nutritious Meals program appears beneficial. However, if certain components are not ready, the system will produce feedback in the form of new problems,” he explained.

Furthermore, Prof. Ede highlighted the importance of realistic policy design within the context of limited resources. According to him, access, quality, and efficiency cannot be achieved simultaneously without trade-offs. He also emphasized that policies must be clear, comprehensive, and supported by appropriate instruments and strong resources.

Through the implementation of FPH UI SEMOL Series 18, FPH UI is expected to continue serving as a strategic dialogue platform for academia, government, and the community in strengthening the national health system toward the realization of Indonesia Emas 2045. (EAR)
