Depok, March 12, 2026 – The Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) 2026 at the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Universitas Indonesia (UI) has entered its final selection stage. Five top candidates were challenged to demonstrate their critical thinking and communication skills through impromptu speech and writing test sessions held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the G Hall of FPH UI. In this stage, participants were asked to respond to various issues related to the dynamics of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia.
The five finalists competing in the final stage were Bryan Akthur Alexander (Undergraduate Program in Public Health 2024), Naufal Akram (Undergraduate Program in Environmental Health 2023), Ayesha Daanii Nayyara (Undergraduate Program in Public Health 2023), Muhammad Najmi Faza (Undergraduate Program in Public Health 2023), and Amira Puji Hastuti (Undergraduate Program in Nutrition 2023).
During the impromptu speech session, candidates were required to present their perspectives and solutions spontaneously on various strategic issues in Indonesia. The session was assessed by a panel of judges consisting of dr. Yoslien Sopamena, M.K.M. (Lecturer at the Department of Health Education and Behavioral Sciences), Rizka Maulida, S.K.M., M.HSc., Ph.D. (Lecturer at the Department of Epidemiology), and Kurnia Sari, S.K.M., M.S.E. (Lecturer at the Department of Health Administration and Policy).
Each candidate, in random order, presented ideas related to the assigned topic. They also participated in opponent sessions and discussions with the judges, who provided questions, feedback, and further exploration of the presented ideas. The topics discussed during the impromptu speech session included:
- Bryan Akthur Alexander – Demographic Bonus: “Indonesia’s demographic bonus is almost over, the peak is less than four years away. What must Indonesia do now to avoid becoming a nation that grew old before it grew rich?” (SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth).
- Naufal Akram – Climate Change: “How climate change affects the well-being of Indonesians?” (SDG 13: Climate Action).
- Ayesha Daanii Nayyara – Blue Economy: “Blue economy is a sustainable approach to use ocean resources. How can Indonesia have the most benefit from the blue economy?” (SDG 14: Life Below Water).
- Muhammad Najmi Faza – Sustainable Transportation: “Indonesian cities are often plagued by traffic congestion and poor air quality due to reliance on private vehicles. How can Indonesia build sustainable and safe transportation systems to improve air quality and promote active living?” (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities).
- Amira Puji Hastuti – Artificial Intelligence: “How to incorporate AI to improve the quality of education in Indonesia?” (SDG 4: Quality Education).
Following the impromptu speech session, candidates proceeded to the writing test to assess the depth of their written analysis on current public health issues. The combination of literacy skills, critical analysis, and public speaking abilities became important indicators in determining the finalists of Pilmapres FPH UI 2026.
This selection stage serves as an essential part of identifying outstanding students who are not only academically excellent but also capable of presenting innovative and solution-oriented ideas to address sustainable development challenges in Indonesia. Congratulations and best wishes to all candidates participating in Pilmapres FPH UI 2026. (ITM)
